At The Fives Foundation, we continue to work with enthusiasm and dedication towards the social and educational development of the communities where we operate. That is why we have commenced an important renovation project at the “El Principito” Kindergarten, located in the Joaquín Zetina Gasca neighbourhood, in the municipality of Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo.
On Friday 20th June, we officially kicked off the construction works, accompanied by local authorities such as Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz, Mayor of Puerto Morelos, and Mr Allen Genaro Alor Cordero, People Director at The Fives Hotels & Residences, who attended on behalf of our President, Mr Joaquín Serna. This event symbolises our determination to actively collaborate with the public sector to deliver tangible improvements that positively impact the community.
The project is led by architects Gretel Miranda, Gastón Zarfino and Francisco García, who will oversee the technical and operational aspects of the intervention, ensuring professional, safe execution that meets the real needs of the school.
During a technical visit on 14th March 2025, we identified a number of urgent improvements required at this educational centre, which sits on a 486.19 m² plot and currently comprises block buildings housing classrooms, dining room, kitchen, bathrooms and an administration office, as well as lightweight structures with metal roofing for multi-use purposes. The main planned works include:
General ground re-levelling to prevent flooding.
Repair of cracks, leaks and humidity issues.
Roof waterproofing.
Inspection and adaptation of plumbing, sanitary, electrical and gas installations.
Construction of an absorption well, general painting and raising of the rear boundary wall to enhance security.
These works are being carried out in close coordination with the school’s management, led by Ms Diana Carolina Hau Azcorra, and the Municipal DIF System, represented by Ms Vanessa Margarita López Páez.
Through this initiative, The Fives Foundation reaffirms its commitment to generating a positive and lasting social impact. We strive to contribute to safer, more functional and dignified school environments to support the comprehensive development of the children in Puerto Morelos. Because we firmly believe that every action counts when building a better future.
